2019-2023 Honda Passport Auto Start Stop Eliminator
Product function
Made for: 2019–2023 Honda Passport. Every row in the fitment table is listed as a 100% fitment match. In these years the Passport is a two-row midsize SUV. The table does not break out trims. A Honda Passport from these years with factory Auto Idle Stop and a matching connector fits.
Going back to stock: Disconnect it and Auto Idle Stop resets at every start again.
Why it resets: Manufacturers make stop-start non-latching for a reason tied to EPA ratings. If drivers could leave it off, the EPA would average on and off results, giving a lower rating.
Order check: Confirm the model year and that the vehicle was built with Auto Idle Stop. Compare your connector with the product photos.
Connection: It plugs in line with the factory connector named in the instructions. Both ends are factory-style plugs, so nothing is cut or spliced. No software is changed.
In short: Out of the factory, Auto Idle Stop switches back on at every start. This inline memory harness stores the last setting you chose and applies it at the next start. Switch it off once and it stays off; switch it on and that is remembered too.
Ordering terms: Free shipping to the contiguous US, dispatched in 1–2 business days with about 3–4 days in transit. Returns within 45 days with pre-approval (20% restocking fee, buyer pays return postage). Covered by a 3-year limited warranty. Fitment questions go to support@automotivebypass.com (Mon–Fri, 9–5 PST); include the VIN.

Description
If your Honda Passport turns Auto Idle Stop back on every time you start it, this inline memory harness solves that one problem: it remembers the last setting and restores it at the next ignition cycle. Coverage is the 2019–2023 Honda Passport. It plugs in line with the factory connector named in the instructions. Both ends are factory-style plugs, so nothing is cut or spliced.
You can still use the original button at any time. Whatever you select last is what the module repeats on the next start. Take the module out and the vehicle behaves exactly as it did from the factory.
Fitment
The fitment table for this SKU lists the following, each marked as a 100% fitment match:
- Honda Passport: 2019–2023
Trim is not listed separately. Any trim in these years with factory stop-start and the pictured connector is covered.
What the factory system does
Each start of the Honda Passport begins with Auto Idle Stop enabled. The switch on the dash can disable it, but only until the key is cycled. This module records the switch position and repeats it after the restart, which is the entire job it does.
Connecting it
It plugs in line with the factory connector named in the instructions. Both ends are factory-style plugs, so nothing is cut or spliced. Work with the ignition off. Seat each connector until its lock engages, then secure the module with the supplied ties or tape so it cannot rattle or touch pedals, steering parts or anything hot. Start the vehicle, press the stop-start button once, then restart to confirm the choice is held.
Why owners turn it off
Some owners only want stop-start off in certain seasons or on certain trips, such as towing a trailer or crawling through summer traffic with the A/C working hard. Because the module remembers whatever you chose last, it works both ways: leave the system off for a week, then switch it back on with the factory button and it stays on.
If stop-start is not engaging
Even with Auto Idle Stop enabled, the engine control logic only stops the engine when conditions allow it. Typical blockers are a low battery state of charge, an engine that has not reached operating temperature, heavy heating or A/C demand, steering input, an open door or unlatched seatbelt, and some drive modes. If the system never seems to stop the engine, one of these is usually the reason, and the module does not change that logic.
Keep the battery healthy
If the stop-start indicator shows the system as unavailable, test the battery before anything else. On stop-start vehicles that is the most common cause. A replacement should match the original specification (AGM or EFB), and some manufacturers call for a battery monitor reset after the swap.
What the module does and does not do
- It does not change engine power, transmission shifts, emissions calibration or fuel trims.
- It leaves the factory button working, so you can turn stop-start back on whenever you want.
- It does not write anything to the vehicle's modules, and removing it restores the stock default.
- It remembers the last stop-start setting through a key cycle.
Troubleshooting notes
If the setting is not remembered, check that the module was installed with the ignition off and that the connector clicked into place. Then press the factory button once, switch the vehicle off, close the doors, give the electronics time to shut down, and start again. If it still resets, contact support with the year, trim and a photo of the connector.
Confirm these points
- Model year and model match a row in the table above (2019–2023 Honda Passport).
- Your Honda Passport has the factory stop-start button. Base trims or engines without stop-start have nothing for the module to remember.
- The connector at your install point matches the one in the product photos.
- The battery and charging system test good and no warning lights are on.
- No aftermarket remote start, alarm or gateway bypass is wired into the same circuit. If one is, email support before ordering.
- If you are unsure, send your VIN to support@automotivebypass.com and we will confirm fitment.

Questions & Answers
Why does my Honda Passport sometimes not auto-stop even when the system is on?
The factory logic checks battery charge, engine temperature, climate load and other inputs. If any are outside range it keeps the engine running. The module does not affect those checks.
Will Auto Idle Stop come back on when I restart my Honda Passport?
Not if you turned it off before shutting down. The module repeats your last selection at the next start. If you leave it on, it stays on.
Does it change engine power or fuel trims?
No. It does not reprogram the engine or transmission computers. It only stores the stop-start button state.
Which Honda Passport years does this fit?
The listed range is 2019–2023. Check the fitment table on this page against your exact model year.
Why does Auto Idle Stop turn itself back on every time?
Automakers set stop-start to default to on at each start. Under EPA test rules, a system that stays off after shutdown is tested both on and off and the results are averaged, which lowers the rated fuel economy, so most systems reset at every key cycle. The module carries your last choice across that reset.
Does it change how the battery is charged?
No. Charging is still managed by the vehicle. Stop-start vehicles normally use an AGM or EFB battery built for frequent restarts; replace it with the same type when it wears out.
How does it connect?
It plugs in line with the factory connector named in the instructions. Both ends are factory-style plugs, so nothing is cut or spliced.
Is this the same part for every Honda?
No. Connectors and the module that holds the stop-start state differ by platform, so this SKU is matched to the fitment rows on this page. Send the VIN to support if you are unsure.
Will it fix a "stop-start unavailable" message?
No. That message usually points to the battery or a sensor. Diagnose and repair that first.
Does the stop-start button still work after installation on the Honda Passport?
Yes. The factory button works normally. The module simply stores whatever you chose last.
Does my Honda Passport need the factory stop-start button for this to work?
Yes. The module works with the factory stop-start system and its button. A vehicle built without stop-start has no setting for it to remember.
Can I remove it later?
Yes. Unplug the module and reconnect the factory connector; the vehicle returns to its stock default.
What happens if I unplug it?
The vehicle returns to the factory default, with Auto Idle Stop switched on at every start.
