Automotivebypass
GMC Yukon XL / Yukon XL 1500 2008-2016 TPMS Sensor Emulator
Product function
Vehicle fitment: Listed for the 2008–2014 GMC Yukon XL 1500 and 2015–2016 GMC Yukon XL. Every row in the fitment table is listed as a 100% fitment match. Setup steps are in the included instructions.
What it does not do: It does not measure tire pressure, so slow leaks will not be reported. A monthly cold check against the door-jamb placard replaces the dash warning.
Manual checks: Use the cold inflation pressure on the driver-side door-jamb placard, not the maximum on the sidewall. Cold means parked for about three hours or driven only a short distance. Note the readings so a slow leak shows up early.
Check these points: Check your year and model against the table. A receiver fault on the original wheels has to be fixed first.
Legal note: TPMS has been required on new US light vehicles since September 1, 2007 under FMVSS No. 138. Shops are limited by 49 U.S.C. 30122, and state inspection rules vary.
In short: These vehicles use direct TPMS, with a battery-powered sensor in each wheel. Missing sensors are treated as a system fault. The emulator provides the expected signals instead.
Order details: No-cost standard shipping in the contiguous United States (handling 1–2 business days, transit 3–4). Pre-approved returns are accepted for 45 days, with a 20% restocking fee and customer-paid return shipping. The part has a 3-year limited warranty. Send the VIN to support@automotivebypass.com if any row is unclear. Support answers weekdays, 9–5 Pacific.

Description
This module is for the 2008–2014 GMC Yukon XL 1500 and 2015–2016 GMC Yukon XL. It emulates the factory TPMS sensors, so a set of wheels without sensors does not trigger the low-tire or system-fault warning on the dash. Because it supplies an expected signal instead of real readings, it cannot warn you about a slow leak. Plan on manual pressure checks.
Covered applications
Each row below is listed as a 100% fitment match:
- GMC Yukon XL 1500: 2008–2014
- GMC Yukon XL: 2015–2016
TPMS hardware can change within a model run (receiver version, sensor type), so match the exact model and year rather than the nameplate alone. Setup steps for your vehicle are in the included instructions.
How factory TPMS works on these vehicles
TPMS became mandatory on new US light vehicles (10,000 lb GVWR or less) on September 1, 2007, under FMVSS No. 138. The required system warns when a tire falls 25% below the recommended cold pressure, and separately flags a malfunction with a flashing-then-steady light. On the GMC Yukon XL 1500 and GMC Yukon XL, a missing sensor signal is treated as a malfunction, which is the warning this emulator is meant to address.
Diagnosis first
If the TPMS light remains on after setup, confirm the part matches your exact year and model, then follow the setup steps in the instructions again. A warning that persists can also point to a receiver or body-module fault, damaged wiring, or a different TPMS configuration than the one listed. The emulator cannot repair those, so a scan of the vehicle for stored codes is the next step.
Where it fits in
It is aimed at vehicles that spend time on wheels without sensors: off-road builds, track days, winter tires on steel wheels, or show vehicles. On each of those, a permanent TPMS light hides any other warning that might appear in the same spot, which is the main reason owners want it gone.
Switching between wheel sets
Most owners switch between two sets of wheels once or twice a year. Keep the instructions with the emulator so the swap is easy to repeat, and note which wheels were on which corner. If you have the original sensor wheels mounted again and the light stays on, run the vehicle's standard TPMS relearn procedure.
Using the placard pressure
The number that matters is on the door-jamb placard. Measure when the tires are cold (parked for a few hours), because a warm tire reads higher. A pencil gauge is fine; a good digital gauge is easier to read. Write down the readings for a few weeks and a slow leak becomes obvious long before it becomes a flat.
Responsible use
TPMS is required safety equipment on new light vehicles in the US under FMVSS No. 138, and 49 U.S.C. 30122 prohibits manufacturers, dealers and repair businesses from knowingly making such equipment inoperative. Requirements for owners and for state inspections vary. Whatever the use, a tire gauge and regular visual checks replace the warning the system would have given you.
Scope
- Supplies the TPMS signals the listed vehicle expects so the warning stays off on wheels without sensors.
- Does not read, store or display real tire pressures.
- Does not repair a faulty receiver, body module or wiring.
- Does not replace pressure checks with a gauge or tire inspections.
Check before you order
- Your model and year match a row above (2008–2014 GMC Yukon XL 1500 and 2015–2016 GMC Yukon XL).
- The TPMS system works normally on your original sensor-equipped wheels.
- No aftermarket TPMS receiver or display has been added.
- You have a tire gauge and will check pressures manually.
- Unsure? Email your VIN to support@automotivebypass.com.
Warranty and returns
We ship free within the contiguous United States (1–2 business days to dispatch, roughly 3–4 business days in transit). If it turns out to be the wrong part, request a return authorization within 45 days; returns carry a 20% restocking fee and return postage is on the buyer. Coverage is a 3-year limited warranty. Questions & Answers
Which GMC Yukon XL 1500 and GMC Yukon XL years does this TPMS emulator fit?
The fitment table lists GMC Yukon XL 1500 2008–2014; GMC Yukon XL 2015–2016. Match your exact model and year before ordering.
Does it measure tire pressure?
No. It supplies the signals the system expects. Check pressures with a gauge.
Can I go back to the original sensors?
Yes. Remove the emulator, refit the sensor-equipped wheels and follow the vehicle's normal TPMS procedure.
Will it fix a TPMS receiver or module fault?
No. Receiver, wiring and module faults need their own diagnosis and repair.
Why does my TPMS light flash and then stay on?
Under FMVSS No. 138, a light that flashes for about a minute and then stays on indicates a system malfunction, such as missing sensor signals, rather than low pressure.
Will it work on a vehicle that is not listed?
Do not assume it will. TPMS receivers and sensor setups vary by model and year, so match the fitment rows or send the VIN to support.
Why is TPMS required on US vehicles?
The TREAD Act of 2000 directed NHTSA to require tire-pressure warnings, which led to FMVSS No. 138. All new US light vehicles built from September 1, 2007 must have it.
Is it legal to use on the road?
TPMS is required equipment on new US light vehicles, and rules for owners and inspections vary by state. Check what applies before road use.
Can a tire shop work on the vehicle with the emulator installed?
Tell the shop it is installed. Federal law restricts repair businesses from knowingly making TPMS inoperative, so some shops may ask you to remove it first.
Do I still need to check tire pressure?
Yes. Check all tires cold at least once a month with a gauge, using the pressures on the driver-side door-jamb placard.
