2020-2024 Jeep Gladiator JT Auto Start Stop Eliminator | Plug & Play
Product function
Vehicle fitment: The 2020–2024 Jeep Gladiator. The fitment table shows a 100% fitment match for each year. In these years the Gladiator is a midsize pickup offered with 3.6L V6 engines. Trims are not listed separately; what matters is a factory Engine Stop-Start (ESS) button and the connector shown in the photos.
What does not change: The factory button works as before. Engine power, fuel trims and transmission programming are not touched. The Jeep Gladiator can still refuse an automatic stop when conditions are not right.
Confirm first: Match the year to a table row and make sure the Jeep Gladiator has Engine Stop-Start (ESS). Look at the connector in the photos before ordering.
Installation point: It plugs in line with the factory connector named in the instructions, using factory-style plugs on both ends, so nothing is cut or spliced. No coding or dealer visit is needed.
What it does: Out of the factory, Engine Stop-Start (ESS) switches back on at every start. With the plug-and-play memory harness fitted, the state you left it in carries over to the next drive. Turning it back on is the same button press, and that choice is stored as well.
Order details: No-cost standard shipping in the contiguous United States (handling 1–2 business days, transit 3–4). Pre-approved returns are accepted for 45 days, with a 20% restocking fee and customer-paid return shipping. The part has a 3-year limited warranty. Fitment questions go to support@automotivebypass.com (Mon–Fri, 9–5 PST); include the VIN.

Description
A plug-and-play memory harness for the 2020–2024 Jeep Gladiator. Out of the factory, Engine Stop-Start (ESS) comes back on at every key cycle. This module remembers your last choice and sends it again at the next start. It plugs in line with the factory connector named in the instructions, using factory-style plugs on both ends, so nothing is cut or spliced.
You can still use the original button at any time. Whatever you select last is what the module repeats on the next start. Take the module out and the vehicle behaves exactly as it did from the factory.
Covered model years
The fitment table for this SKU lists the following, each marked as a 100% fitment match:
- Jeep Gladiator: 2020–2024
For reference, the Jeep Gladiator in these years is a midsize pickup offered with 3.6L V6 engines. Trim is not listed separately. Any trim in these years with factory stop-start and the pictured connector is covered.
Why the button resets
The factory logic arms Engine Stop-Start (ESS) every time the engine starts. Turning it off with the button only lasts until the engine is shut down. Owners who sit in stop-and-go traffic, tow, or idle in drive-throughs often prefer it off, and that is where the repeated button press comes from.
Where it connects
It plugs in line with the factory connector named in the instructions, using factory-style plugs on both ends, so nothing is cut or spliced. Work with the ignition off. Seat each connector until its lock engages, then secure the module with the supplied ties or tape so it cannot rattle or touch pedals, steering parts or anything hot. Start the vehicle, press the stop-start button once, then restart to confirm the choice is held.
Typical reasons to keep it off
Some owners only want stop-start off in certain seasons or on certain trips, such as towing a trailer or crawling through summer traffic with the A/C working hard. Because the module remembers whatever you chose last, it works both ways: leave the system off for a week, then switch it back on with the factory button and it stays on.
If stop-start is not engaging
The factory system will skip an auto stop for many reasons: battery charge below its threshold, cold coolant, high climate-control load, a steep grade, the hood or driver door open, or a 4WD or tow mode on vehicles that have them. Those checks stay in control after this module is installed. It does not force stops and it does not bypass any of those safety inputs.
If something does not look right
A warning light that appears after installation usually means a connector is not fully seated. Switch the ignition off, reseat both ends until the locks click, and test again. If the light stays on, remove the module and confirm the vehicle is fault-free on its own before contacting support.
What the module does and does not do
- Carries your stop-start choice over to the next drive.
- Does not disable warning lights or diagnostic functions.
- Comes out in the same way it went in, with nothing cut.
- Fuel use changes only the way it would if you pressed the off button yourself.
Battery and charging
Vehicles with stop-start normally use an AGM or EFB battery sized for repeated restarts. If you replace it, use the same type and size, and follow the manufacturer's battery reset or registration step where one exists. A wrong or unregistered battery can leave the stop-start system disabled, and that has nothing to do with this module.
Fitment check
- Model year and model match a row in the table above (2020–2024 Jeep Gladiator).
- Your Jeep Gladiator has the factory stop-start button. Base trims or engines without stop-start have nothing for the module to remember.
- The battery and charging system test good and no warning lights are on.
- No aftermarket remote start, alarm or gateway bypass is wired into the same circuit. If one is, email support before ordering.
- The connector at your install point matches the one in the product photos.
- If you are unsure, send your VIN to support@automotivebypass.com and we will confirm fitment.

Questions & Answers
Will Engine Stop-Start (ESS) come back on when I restart my Jeep Gladiator?
Not if you turned it off before shutting down. The module repeats your last selection at the next start. If you leave it on, it stays on.
Which Jeep Gladiator years does this fit?
The listed range is 2020–2024. Check the fitment table on this page against your exact model year.
Can I remove it later?
Yes. Unplug the module and reconnect the factory connector; the vehicle returns to its stock default.
Will it fix a "stop-start unavailable" message?
No. That message usually points to the battery or a sensor. Diagnose and repair that first.
How does it connect?
It plugs in line with the factory connector named in the instructions, using factory-style plugs on both ends, so nothing is cut or spliced.
Does my Jeep Gladiator need the factory stop-start button for this to work?
Yes. The module works with the factory stop-start system and its button. A vehicle built without stop-start has no setting for it to remember.
Does it change how the battery is charged?
No. Charging is still managed by the vehicle. Stop-start vehicles normally use an AGM or EFB battery built for frequent restarts; replace it with the same type when it wears out.
Does the stop-start button still work after installation on the Jeep Gladiator?
Yes. The factory button works normally. The module simply stores whatever you chose last.
What happens if I unplug it?
The vehicle returns to the factory default, with Engine Stop-Start (ESS) switched on at every start.
Is this the same part for every Jeep?
No. Connectors and the module that holds the stop-start state differ by platform, so this SKU is matched to the fitment rows on this page. Send the VIN to support if you are unsure.
Why does Engine Stop-Start (ESS) turn itself back on every time?
Automakers set stop-start to default to on at each start. Under EPA test rules, a system that stays off after shutdown is tested both on and off and the results are averaged, which lowers the rated fuel economy, so most systems reset at every key cycle. The module carries your last choice across that reset.
Does it change engine power or fuel trims?
No. It does not reprogram the engine or transmission computers. It only stores the stop-start button state.
Why does my Jeep Gladiator sometimes not auto-stop even when the system is on?
The factory logic checks battery charge, engine temperature, climate load and other inputs. If any are outside range it keeps the engine running. The module does not affect those checks.
