2018-2020 Ford F-150 Auto Start Stop Eliminator
Product function
Vehicle fitment: Listed for the 2018–2020 Ford F-150. Every row in the fitment table is listed as a 100% fitment match. In these years the F-150 is a full-size pickup offered with 2.7L and 3.5L EcoBoost V6 and 5.0L V8 engines, with the 3.0L Power Stroke diesel and 3.5L PowerBoost hybrid offered on selected years, most of the driving it sees is towing, job-site hauling and daily driving. Trim is not split out, so any Ford F-150 in these years with factory Auto Start-Stop and the pictured connector is covered.
The job it does: Auto Start-Stop normally resets to on at every key cycle. The inline memory harness remembers your last choice and sends it again when you restart.
Installation point: It plugs in line with the factory connector named in the instructions. Both ends are factory-style plugs, so nothing is cut or spliced. The original connector is reused.
Why it resets: Most systems are non-latching because of how the EPA rates fuel economy. A system that can stay off is tested both on and off and the results averaged, which lowers the label figure.
Check these points: Check the year against the fitment rows and look for the Auto Start-Stop button. Compare your connector with the product photos.
Shipping, returns, warranty: Ships free within the lower 48 states: 1–2 business days to dispatch, 3–4 more on the road. A 45-day return window applies once a return is approved, less a 20% restocking fee and return shipping. 3-year limited warranty. Send the VIN to support@automotivebypass.com if any row is unclear. Support answers weekdays, 9–5 Pacific.

Description
A inline memory harness for the 2018–2020 Ford F-150. Out of the factory, Auto Start-Stop comes back on at every key cycle. This module remembers your last choice and sends it again at the next start. It plugs in line with the factory connector named in the instructions. Both ends are factory-style plugs, so nothing is cut or spliced.
You can still use the original button at any time. Whatever you select last is what the module repeats on the next start. Take the module out and the vehicle behaves exactly as it did from the factory.
Covered model years
Listed applications (each row is a 100% fitment match for the factory connector this part uses):
- Ford F-150: 2018–2020
For reference, the Ford F-150 in these years is a full-size pickup offered with 2.7L and 3.5L EcoBoost V6 and 5.0L V8 engines, with the 3.0L Power Stroke diesel and 3.5L PowerBoost hybrid offered on selected years, most of the driving it sees is towing, job-site hauling and daily driving. Trim levels are not split out in the table, so confirm that your vehicle has the stop-start button before ordering.
Why the button resets
The factory logic arms Auto Start-Stop every time the engine starts. Turning it off with the button only lasts until the engine is shut down. Owners who sit in stop-and-go traffic, tow, or idle in drive-throughs often prefer it off, and that is where the repeated button press comes from.
Diagnostics first
If the setting is not remembered, check that the module was installed with the ignition off and that the connector clicked into place. Then press the factory button once, switch the vehicle off, close the doors, give the electronics time to shut down, and start again. If it still resets, contact support with the year, trim and a photo of the connector.
Installing the inline memory harness
It plugs in line with the factory connector named in the instructions. Both ends are factory-style plugs, so nothing is cut or spliced. Disconnect nothing else and splice nothing. Once both plugs are locked, tuck the harness where it will not be pinched when the panel goes back on. Test by switching Auto Start-Stop off, cycling the ignition and checking the indicator.
When the engine will not auto-stop anyway
Auto stop needs several conditions at once: a warm engine, enough battery charge, moderate cabin heating or cooling demand, and the vehicle fully stopped with the brake held. If any is missing, the engine keeps running. The module only remembers the button state; the factory controller still decides whether a stop is allowed.
A note on the battery
If the stop-start indicator shows the system as unavailable, test the battery before anything else. On stop-start vehicles that is the most common cause. A replacement should match the original specification (AGM or EFB), and some manufacturers call for a battery monitor reset after the swap.
What to expect
- No tune, no reflash, no change to horsepower or shift points.
- Stores the stop-start choice you made last and repeats it at the next start.
- Fully reversible: unplug it and the vehicle returns to factory behavior.
- Keeps the original switch fully functional.
Why owners turn it off
Drivers usually switch stop-start off for comfort or habit. A restart at every stop is noticeable in a full-size pickup, the climate system may run at reduced output while the engine is off, and quick moves into traffic feel slower when the engine has to fire first. If those are your reasons, you probably press the button on every drive now. With the module, you press it once.
Check before you order
- Model year and model match a row in the table above (2018–2020 Ford F-150).
- Your Ford F-150 has the factory stop-start button. Base trims or engines without stop-start have nothing for the module to remember.
- The connector at your install point matches the one in the product photos.
- The battery and charging system test good and no warning lights are on.
- No aftermarket remote start, alarm or gateway bypass is wired into the same circuit. If one is, email support before ordering.
- If you are unsure, send your VIN to support@automotivebypass.com and we will confirm fitment.

Questions & Answers
Which Ford F-150 years does this fit?
The listed range is 2018–2020. Check the fitment table on this page against your exact model year.
Does it change engine power or fuel trims?
No. It does not reprogram the engine or transmission computers. It only stores the stop-start button state.
Does the stop-start button still work after installation on the Ford F-150?
Yes. The factory button works normally. The module simply stores whatever you chose last.
Will Auto Start-Stop come back on when I restart my Ford F-150?
Not if you turned it off before shutting down. The module repeats your last selection at the next start. If you leave it on, it stays on.
Can I remove it later?
Yes. Unplug the module and reconnect the factory connector; the vehicle returns to its stock default.
Why does my Ford F-150 sometimes not auto-stop even when the system is on?
The factory logic checks battery charge, engine temperature, climate load and other inputs. If any are outside range it keeps the engine running. The module does not affect those checks.
Is this the same part for every Ford?
No. Connectors and the module that holds the stop-start state differ by platform, so this SKU is matched to the fitment rows on this page. Send the VIN to support if you are unsure.
Does my Ford F-150 need the factory stop-start button for this to work?
Yes. The module works with the factory stop-start system and its button. A vehicle built without stop-start has no setting for it to remember.
What happens if I unplug it?
The vehicle returns to the factory default, with Auto Start-Stop switched on at every start.
Does it change how the battery is charged?
No. Charging is still managed by the vehicle. Stop-start vehicles normally use an AGM or EFB battery built for frequent restarts; replace it with the same type when it wears out.
How does it connect?
It plugs in line with the factory connector named in the instructions. Both ends are factory-style plugs, so nothing is cut or spliced.
Why does Auto Start-Stop turn itself back on every time?
Automakers set stop-start to default to on at each start. Under EPA test rules, a system that stays off after shutdown is tested both on and off and the results are averaged, which lowers the rated fuel economy, so most systems reset at every key cycle. The module carries your last choice across that reset.
Will it fix a "stop-start unavailable" message?
No. That message usually points to the battery or a sensor. Diagnose and repair that first.
