2018-2024 Audi A5 Auto Start Stop Eliminator | Plug & Play

This plug-and-play memory harness is for the 2018–2024 Audi A5. It stores the last stop-start setting you chose, so if you turned start-stop system off on one drive, it stays off the next time you start the engine. It plugs in line with the factory connector named in the instructions, using factory-style plugs on both ends, so nothing is cut or spliced.

It does not delete the feature. Turning stop-start back on is the same button press as before, and the module will remember that too. Removing it returns the vehicle to its original default.

What the factory system does

Each start of the Audi A5 begins with start-stop system enabled. The switch on the dash can disable it, but only until the key is cycled. This module records the switch position and repeats it after the restart, which is the entire job it does.

Battery notes for stop-start vehicles

Vehicles with stop-start normally use an AGM or EFB battery sized for repeated restarts. If you replace it, use the same type and size, and follow the manufacturer's battery reset or registration step where one exists. A wrong or unregistered battery can leave the stop-start system disabled, and that has nothing to do with this module.

Connecting it

It plugs in line with the factory connector named in the instructions, using factory-style plugs on both ends, so nothing is cut or spliced. Because it is plug-in only, removal is the reverse: unplug the module and reconnect the factory connectors directly. Keep the original clips and trim fasteners if you remove a panel to reach the connector.

Where owners notice the difference

Drivers usually switch stop-start off for comfort or habit. A restart at every stop is noticeable in a daily driver, the climate system may run at reduced output while the engine is off, and quick moves into traffic feel slower when the engine has to fire first. If those are your reasons, you probably press the button on every drive now. With the module, you press it once.

Conditions the factory system checks

Auto stop needs several conditions at once: a warm engine, enough battery charge, moderate cabin heating or cooling demand, and the vehicle fully stopped with the brake held. If any is missing, the engine keeps running. The module only remembers the button state; the factory controller still decides whether a stop is allowed.

Troubleshooting notes

If the setting is not remembered, check that the module was installed with the ignition off and that the connector clicked into place. Then press the factory button once, switch the vehicle off, close the doors, give the electronics time to shut down, and start again. If it still resets, contact support with the year, trim and a photo of the connector.

What to expect

• It does not write anything to the vehicle's modules, and removing it restores the stock default.
• It does not change engine power, transmission shifts, emissions calibration or fuel trims.
• It remembers the last stop-start setting through a key cycle.

• Model year and model match a row in the table above (2018–2024 Audi A5).
• Your Audi A5 has the factory stop-start button. Base trims or engines without stop-start have nothing for the module to remember.
• The battery and charging system test good and no warning lights are on.
• No aftermarket remote start, alarm or gateway bypass is wired into the same circuit. If one is, email support before ordering.
