2018-2024 Audi Q5 Auto Start Stop Eliminator | Plug & Play
Product function
Vehicle fitment: The 2018–2024 Audi Q5. Every row in the fitment table is listed as a 100% fitment match. In these years the Q5 is a compact luxury SUV. The table does not break out trims. A Audi Q5 from these years with factory start-stop system and a matching connector fits.
What it leaves alone: Your start-stop system button keeps working. It does not alter the engine tune, shift programming or charging. Factory rules for when the engine may stop still apply.
Fitting: It plugs in line with the factory connector named in the instructions, using factory-style plugs on both ends, so nothing is cut or spliced. Nothing is reprogrammed.
Battery and conditions: Stop-start vehicles use an AGM or EFB battery built for frequent restarts. A low charge, a cold engine or high climate demand can block an automatic stop regardless of the module.
Core function: Each restart puts start-stop system back to its default of on. The plug-and-play memory harness remembers your last choice and sends it again when you restart.
Check these points: Match the year to a table row and make sure the Audi Q5 has start-stop system. Look at the connector in the photos before ordering. Vehicles with added remote-start or security modules should be confirmed with support.
Ordering terms: Free shipping to the contiguous US, dispatched in 1–2 business days with about 3–4 days in transit. Returns within 45 days with pre-approval (20% restocking fee, buyer pays return postage). Covered by a 3-year limited warranty. Not sure? Email support@automotivebypass.com with your VIN, Monday to Friday 9–5 PST.

Description
A plug-and-play memory harness for the 2018–2024 Audi Q5. Out of the factory, start-stop system comes back on at every key cycle. This module remembers your last choice and sends it again at the next start. It plugs in line with the factory connector named in the instructions, using factory-style plugs on both ends, so nothing is cut or spliced.
Nothing is reprogrammed in the engine computer. The module only stands in for the button press you would otherwise make after every start, and it comes out without leaving a trace.
Which Audi Q5 models it fits
Listed applications (each row is a 100% fitment match for the factory connector this part uses):
- Audi Q5: 2018–2024
Trim is not listed separately. Any trim in these years with factory stop-start and the pictured connector is covered.
Why the button resets
With start-stop system active, the engine shuts off when the vehicle comes to a stop and restarts when you lift off the brake or press the accelerator. The off button is a manual override for that drive only. Turn the ignition off and back on, and the system defaults to on again, so drivers who prefer it off end up pressing the button at the start of every trip.
Battery notes for stop-start vehicles
Vehicles with stop-start normally use an AGM or EFB battery sized for repeated restarts. If you replace it, use the same type and size, and follow the manufacturer's battery reset or registration step where one exists. A wrong or unregistered battery can leave the stop-start system disabled, and that has nothing to do with this module.
Troubleshooting notes
A dead or weak battery, a charging problem or an unrelated module fault will change how start-stop system behaves with or without this part installed. Scan the vehicle for stored codes, test the battery and confirm the system works normally with the factory button before installation. That baseline makes any later issue easy to pin down.
Installation and removal
It plugs in line with the factory connector named in the instructions, using factory-style plugs on both ends, so nothing is cut or spliced. Because it is plug-in only, removal is the reverse: unplug the module and reconnect the factory connectors directly. Keep the original clips and trim fasteners if you remove a panel to reach the connector.
Conditions the factory system checks
A Audi Q5 that rarely auto-stops is often telling you something about the battery. Stop-start vehicles usually run an AGM or EFB battery, and the system is one of the first features to drop out as that battery ages. Cabin temperature requests, engine temperature and brake pressure also factor in. None of these checks are altered by the module.
Day-to-day use
Stop-start saves the most fuel in long idles, but plenty of drivers would rather keep the engine running. Common reasons: towing or hauling, where an engine restart under load is unwelcome; drive-thru lines and parking lots, where the engine cycles on and off every few feet; hot days, when the A/C compressor stops with the engine on many vehicles; and stop-and-go traffic where the restart delay is noticeable when pulling into a gap. On a compact luxury SUV, any of these can mean a button press at the start of nearly every drive.
What to expect
- Lets you re-enable the system with the factory button at any time.
- Leaves engine and transmission software untouched.
- Leaves no permanent change after removal.
- Holds the stop-start button state between drives.
Quick fitment check
- Model year and model match a row in the table above (2018–2024 Audi Q5).
- Your Audi Q5 has the factory stop-start button. Base trims or engines without stop-start have nothing for the module to remember.
- No aftermarket remote start, alarm or gateway bypass is wired into the same circuit. If one is, email support before ordering.
- The battery and charging system test good and no warning lights are on.
- The connector at your install point matches the one in the product photos.
- If you are unsure, send your VIN to support@automotivebypass.com and we will confirm fitment.

Questions & Answers
Which Audi Q5 years does this fit?
The listed range is 2018–2024. Check the fitment table on this page against your exact model year.
Will start-stop system come back on when I restart my Audi Q5?
Not if you turned it off before shutting down. The module repeats your last selection at the next start. If you leave it on, it stays on.
How does it connect?
It plugs in line with the factory connector named in the instructions, using factory-style plugs on both ends, so nothing is cut or spliced.
Does the stop-start button still work after installation on the Audi Q5?
Yes. The factory button works normally. The module simply stores whatever you chose last.
Why does start-stop system turn itself back on every time?
Automakers set stop-start to default to on at each start. Under EPA test rules, a system that stays off after shutdown is tested both on and off and the results are averaged, which lowers the rated fuel economy, so most systems reset at every key cycle. The module carries your last choice across that reset.
Does my Audi Q5 need the factory stop-start button for this to work?
Yes. The module works with the factory stop-start system and its button. A vehicle built without stop-start has no setting for it to remember.
Does it change engine power or fuel trims?
No. It does not reprogram the engine or transmission computers. It only stores the stop-start button state.
What happens if I unplug it?
The vehicle returns to the factory default, with start-stop system switched on at every start.
Does it change how the battery is charged?
No. Charging is still managed by the vehicle. Stop-start vehicles normally use an AGM or EFB battery built for frequent restarts; replace it with the same type when it wears out.
Why does my Audi Q5 sometimes not auto-stop even when the system is on?
The factory logic checks battery charge, engine temperature, climate load and other inputs. If any are outside range it keeps the engine running. The module does not affect those checks.
Is this the same part for every Audi?
No. Connectors and the module that holds the stop-start state differ by platform, so this SKU is matched to the fitment rows on this page. Send the VIN to support if you are unsure.
Can I remove it later?
Yes. Unplug the module and reconnect the factory connector; the vehicle returns to its stock default.
Will it fix a "stop-start unavailable" message?
No. That message usually points to the battery or a sensor. Diagnose and repair that first.
