Product function

Fits: Listed for the 2019–2023 Chevrolet Traverse. All rows in the fitment table are marked 100% fitment match. In these years the Traverse is a three-row midsize crossover. Trim is not split out, so any Chevrolet Traverse in these years with factory Auto Stop/Start and the pictured connector is covered.

Battery and conditions: The factory battery is an AGM or EFB type designed for stop-start duty. Battery charge, engine temperature and cabin heating or cooling still decide whether the engine stops.

How it connects: It plugs in line with the factory connector named in the instructions, using factory-style plugs on both ends, so nothing is cut or spliced. Nothing is reprogrammed.

In short: Auto Stop/Start normally resets to on at every key cycle. The plug-and-play memory harness remembers your last choice and sends it again when you restart. If you want stop-start back, press the button and the module remembers that instead.

Before you order: Find your model year in the table and confirm the factory Auto Stop/Start button. Make sure the connector matches the pictures.

Why it resets: Most systems are non-latching because of how the EPA rates fuel economy. A latching system would be rated on the average of on and off tests, so automakers avoid it.

Shipping and warranty: Free shipping to the contiguous US, dispatched in 1–2 business days with about 3–4 days in transit. Returns within 45 days with pre-approval (20% restocking fee, buyer pays return postage). Covered by a 3-year limited warranty. Not sure? Email support@automotivebypass.com with your VIN, Monday to Friday 9–5 PST.

Description

A plug-and-play memory harness for the 2019–2023 Chevrolet Traverse. Out of the factory, Auto Stop/Start comes back on at every key cycle. This module remembers your last choice and sends it again at the next start. It plugs in line with the factory connector named in the instructions, using factory-style plugs on both ends, so nothing is cut or spliced.

You can still use the original button at any time. Whatever you select last is what the module repeats on the next start. Take the module out and the vehicle behaves exactly as it did from the factory.

Fitment

Every row below is listed as a 100% fitment match for this part:

  • Chevrolet Traverse: 2019–2023

The listing is written around the second-generation (2018-2024) Traverse. Trim levels are not split out in the table, so confirm that your vehicle has the stop-start button before ordering.

Why the button resets

Each start of the Chevrolet Traverse begins with Auto Stop/Start enabled. The switch on the dash can disable it, but only until the key is cycled. This module records the switch position and repeats it after the restart, which is the entire job it does.

What the module does and does not do

  • Leaves engine and transmission software untouched.
  • Holds the stop-start button state between drives.
  • Leaves no permanent change after removal.
  • Lets you re-enable the system with the factory button at any time.

Diagnostics first

If a "stop-start unavailable" or similar message appears, check the battery first. A battery that tests weak, a recent battery replacement that was not registered where the manufacturer requires it, or a fault in the battery current sensor can all disable the system. Clear up those issues before judging how the module works, because it cannot hold a setting the vehicle refuses to accept.

Installing the plug-and-play memory harness

It plugs in line with the factory connector named in the instructions, using factory-style plugs on both ends, so nothing is cut or spliced. Because it is plug-in only, removal is the reverse: unplug the module and reconnect the factory connectors directly. Keep the original clips and trim fasteners if you remove a panel to reach the connector.

Why owners turn it off

Drivers usually switch stop-start off for comfort or habit. A restart at every stop is noticeable in a three-row midsize crossover, the climate system may run at reduced output while the engine is off, and quick moves into traffic feel slower when the engine has to fire first. If those are your reasons, you probably press the button on every drive now. With the module, you press it once.

When the engine will not auto-stop anyway

The factory system will skip an auto stop for many reasons: battery charge below its threshold, cold coolant, high climate-control load, a steep grade, the hood or driver door open, or a 4WD or tow mode on vehicles that have them. Those checks stay in control after this module is installed. It does not force stops and it does not bypass any of those safety inputs.

Battery and charging

Most stop-start systems watch battery condition closely through a sensor on the negative terminal. When the battery ages, the system quietly stops auto-stopping long before the battery fails to crank. Keeping the original battery type (AGM or EFB) and a clean, tight ground connection avoids a lot of confusion about why the system behaves differently from week to week.

Fitment check

  • Model year and model match a row in the table above (2019–2023 Chevrolet Traverse).
  • Your Chevrolet Traverse has the factory stop-start button. Base trims or engines without stop-start have nothing for the module to remember.
  • No aftermarket remote start, alarm or gateway bypass is wired into the same circuit. If one is, email support before ordering.
  • The connector at your install point matches the one in the product photos.
  • The battery and charging system test good and no warning lights are on.
  • If you are unsure, send your VIN to support@automotivebypass.com and we will confirm fitment.

Questions & Answers
How does it connect?

It plugs in line with the factory connector named in the instructions, using factory-style plugs on both ends, so nothing is cut or spliced.

Which Chevrolet Traverse years does this fit?

The listed range is 2019–2023. Check the fitment table on this page against your exact model year.

Can I remove it later?

Yes. Unplug the module and reconnect the factory connector; the vehicle returns to its stock default.

Does the stop-start button still work after installation on the Chevrolet Traverse?

Yes. The factory button works normally. The module simply stores whatever you chose last.

Will Auto Stop/Start come back on when I restart my Chevrolet Traverse?

Not if you turned it off before shutting down. The module repeats your last selection at the next start. If you leave it on, it stays on.

What happens if I unplug it?

The vehicle returns to the factory default, with Auto Stop/Start switched on at every start.

Is this the same part for every Chevrolet?

No. Connectors and the module that holds the stop-start state differ by platform, so this SKU is matched to the fitment rows on this page. Send the VIN to support if you are unsure.

Why does Auto Stop/Start turn itself back on every time?

Automakers set stop-start to default to on at each start. Under EPA test rules, a system that stays off after shutdown is tested both on and off and the results are averaged, which lowers the rated fuel economy, so most systems reset at every key cycle. The module carries your last choice across that reset.

Does my Chevrolet Traverse need the factory stop-start button for this to work?

Yes. The module works with the factory stop-start system and its button. A vehicle built without stop-start has no setting for it to remember.

Why does my Chevrolet Traverse sometimes not auto-stop even when the system is on?

The factory logic checks battery charge, engine temperature, climate load and other inputs. If any are outside range it keeps the engine running. The module does not affect those checks.

Does it change how the battery is charged?

No. Charging is still managed by the vehicle. Stop-start vehicles normally use an AGM or EFB battery built for frequent restarts; replace it with the same type when it wears out.

Will it fix a "stop-start unavailable" message?

No. That message usually points to the battery or a sensor. Diagnose and repair that first.

Does it change engine power or fuel trims?

No. It does not reprogram the engine or transmission computers. It only stores the stop-start button state.
