Chevrolet Cobalt 2008-2010 TPMS Sensor Emulator
Product function
Covered vehicles: 2008–2010 Chevrolet Cobalt. All fitment rows are marked 100% fitment match. Follow the included instructions for your model.
Regulations: Federal standard FMVSS No. 138 made TPMS mandatory on light vehicles from September 2007. Shops are limited by 49 U.S.C. 30122, and state inspection rules vary.
Going back: Refit the original wheels and follow the instructions to restore normal operation.
What it does: These vehicles use direct TPMS, with a battery-powered sensor in each wheel. Missing sensors are treated as a system fault. This module stands in for those sensors and keeps the dash clear.
Manual checks: The figure that matters is on the door-jamb placard, not the tire sidewall. Check before the tires warm up, because heat raises the reading.
Before you order: Find your exact model year in the fitment rows. Start from a TPMS that works normally on the original sensor wheels.
What it does not do: It reports what the system expects, not what is in the tires. Use a gauge and the placard pressures, checked cold, every month. It does not repair a faulty receiver, module or wiring.
Shipping and warranty: Ships free within the lower 48 states: 1–2 business days to dispatch, 3–4 more on the road. A 45-day return window applies once a return is approved, less a 20% restocking fee and return shipping. 3-year limited warranty. Send the VIN to support@automotivebypass.com if any row is unclear. Support answers weekdays, 9–5 Pacific.

Description
For the 2008–2010 Chevrolet Cobalt: an emulator that supplies the TPMS signals the vehicle is looking for. Typical use is a second set of wheels that has no sensors, where the factory system would otherwise keep its warning lit. Because it supplies an expected signal instead of real readings, it cannot warn you about a slow leak. Plan on manual pressure checks.
Vehicles and years
Each row below is listed as a 100% fitment match:
- Chevrolet Cobalt: 2008–2010
Within these years the receiver and sensor configuration is what the emulator has to match, which is why the listing is split by model and year. The included instructions cover setup for each listed vehicle.
The factory TPMS in brief
Every wheel on the Chevrolet Cobalt normally carries a pressure sensor with its own ID, and the vehicle only listens for the IDs it has learned. Mount wheels without sensors and those IDs stop transmitting, so the system reports a fault. Under FMVSS No. 138, that fault shows as a TPMS light that flashes for roughly a minute at start-up and then stays lit, repeating on every start until the system sees its sensors again.
Seasonal wheel swaps
Most owners switch between two sets of wheels once or twice a year. Keep the instructions with the emulator so the swap is easy to repeat, and note which wheels were on which corner. If you have the original sensor wheels mounted again and the light stays on, run the vehicle's standard TPMS relearn procedure.
Checking pressure the right way
Without TPMS warnings, a monthly routine does the job: tires cold, gauge on each valve, compare with the door-jamb placard, top up as needed, and look over the tread and sidewalls. Larger off-road or winter tires may call for different pressures than the factory placard; follow the tire maker's guidance in that case.
If the warning stays on
A light that will not clear usually means a mismatch: a different year or receiver version than the listing, or a setup step that did not complete. Re-check the fitment rows and instructions. If they match, scan for codes, because a receiver or module fault will keep the light on regardless of what is installed.
When owners use an emulator
Most buyers have wheels without sensors that they use part of the year, such as a winter set, a track set or a show set. The emulator keeps the dash clear while those wheels are on. When the original sensor-equipped wheels go back on, the factory system can be returned to normal operation following the instructions.
Checking pressure yourself
TPMS is required safety equipment on new light vehicles in the US under FMVSS No. 138, and 49 U.S.C. 30122 prohibits manufacturers, dealers and repair businesses from knowingly making such equipment inoperative. Requirements for owners and for state inspections vary. Whatever the use, a tire gauge and regular visual checks replace the warning the system would have given you.
Scope
- Supplies the TPMS signals the listed vehicle expects so the warning stays off on wheels without sensors.
- Does not read, store or display real tire pressures.
- Does not repair a faulty receiver, body module or wiring.
- Does not replace pressure checks with a gauge or tire inspections.
Check before you order
- Your model and year match a row above (2008–2010 Chevrolet Cobalt).
- The TPMS system works normally on your original sensor-equipped wheels.
- No aftermarket TPMS receiver or display has been added.
- You have a tire gauge and will check pressures manually.
- Unsure? Email your VIN to support@automotivebypass.com.
Warranty and returns
Free standard shipping covers the contiguous US, with dispatch in 1–2 business days and 3–4 days on the road after that. You have 45 days to request a return (pre-approval required, 20% restocking fee, buyer-paid return shipping). The module is backed by a 3-year limited warranty. For order or fitment questions, write to support@automotivebypass.com between 9 and 5 Pacific, Monday through Friday.
Questions & Answers
Can I go back to the original sensors?
Yes. Remove the emulator, refit the sensor-equipped wheels and follow the vehicle's normal TPMS procedure.
Which Chevrolet Cobalt years does this TPMS emulator fit?
The fitment table lists Chevrolet Cobalt 2008–2010. Match your exact model and year before ordering.
Does it measure tire pressure?
No. It supplies the signals the system expects. Check pressures with a gauge.
Is it legal to use on the road?
TPMS is required equipment on new US light vehicles, and rules for owners and inspections vary by state. Check what applies before road use.
Can a tire shop work on the vehicle with the emulator installed?
Tell the shop it is installed. Federal law restricts repair businesses from knowingly making TPMS inoperative, so some shops may ask you to remove it first.
Why does my TPMS light flash and then stay on?
Under FMVSS No. 138, a light that flashes for about a minute and then stays on indicates a system malfunction, such as missing sensor signals, rather than low pressure.
Will it work on a vehicle that is not listed?
Do not assume it will. TPMS receivers and sensor setups vary by model and year, so match the fitment rows or send the VIN to support.
Why is TPMS required on US vehicles?
The TREAD Act of 2000 directed NHTSA to require tire-pressure warnings, which led to FMVSS No. 138. All new US light vehicles built from September 1, 2007 must have it.
Do I still need to check tire pressure?
Yes. Check all tires cold at least once a month with a gauge, using the pressures on the driver-side door-jamb placard.
Will it fix a TPMS receiver or module fault?
No. Receiver, wiring and module faults need their own diagnosis and repair.
