Chevrolet Equinox 2008-2012 TPMS Sensor Emulator
Product function
Fits: The 2008–2012 Chevrolet Equinox. All fitment rows are marked 100% fitment match. Follow the included instructions for your model.
Limits: It reports what the system expects, not what is in the tires. Check all tires cold with a gauge at least monthly, using the door-jamb placard pressures. Receiver and wiring faults still need repair.
Before road use: Federal standard FMVSS No. 138 made TPMS mandatory on light vehicles from September 2007. 49 U.S.C. 30122 bars dealers and repair shops from knowingly disabling it, so some shops may decline to fit the emulator.
Checking pressure: Use the cold inflation pressure on the driver-side door-jamb placard, not the maximum on the sidewall. Measure before driving, since warm tires read higher. Include the spare and look over tread and sidewalls while you are there.
The job it does: Direct TPMS on these models matches each wheel sensor by its ID. Wheels without sensors trigger a malfunction warning. The emulator provides the expected signals instead.
Check these points: Match the model and year to a fitment row. Make sure the factory TPMS works on your sensor-equipped wheels.
Shipping, returns, warranty: Ships free within the lower 48 states: 1–2 business days to dispatch, 3–4 more on the road. A 45-day return window applies once a return is approved, less a 20% restocking fee and return shipping. 3-year limited warranty. Fitment questions go to support@automotivebypass.com (Mon–Fri, 9–5 PST); include the VIN.

Description
The Chevrolet Equinox expects to hear from a sensor in each wheel. When the wheels on the vehicle have no sensors, the dash shows a TPMS fault. This emulator for the 2008–2012 Chevrolet Equinox provides those signals so the warning stays off. Keep in mind that the module reports what the system expects to see, not what is actually in the tires. A good gauge becomes your tire-pressure monitor.
Covered applications
Listed applications (all 100% fitment match):
- Chevrolet Equinox: 2008–2012
Use the model and year rows above as the deciding check. Different receivers or sensor configurations within the same nameplate are why fitment is listed this narrowly.
The factory TPMS in brief
These vehicles use direct TPMS: a battery-powered sensor in each wheel sends pressure readings by radio, and a receiver in the vehicle matches each sensor by its ID. If a sensor goes quiet (dead battery, damaged sensor, or wheels without sensors), the system sets a fault. Federal standard FMVSS No. 138 requires this kind of warning on light vehicles built from September 1, 2007: a steady telltale when a tire is 25% or more below the placard pressure, and a malfunction indication that flashes for about a minute and then stays on when the system cannot work properly.
When the original wheels go back on
When you go back to the original sensor-equipped wheels, remove or disconnect the emulator as the instructions describe and let the vehicle recognize its sensors again. If the original sensors were rotated or replaced, the vehicle may need its normal TPMS relearn. Store the sensor wheels indoors and keep the valve caps on to keep moisture out of the valve stems.
Safety and legal notes
With the emulator in place, the dashboard will not tell you about a leak. Check all four tires (and the spare) with a gauge at least once a month and before long trips, using the cold pressures on the door-jamb placard, and look for nails, cuts and bulges while you are there. Federal law also bars dealers and repair businesses from knowingly disabling required safety equipment, and state inspection rules differ, so check what applies to your vehicle and use before running it on the road.
Typical uses
Most buyers have wheels without sensors that they use part of the year, such as a winter set, a track set or a show set. The emulator keeps the dash clear while those wheels are on. When the original sensor-equipped wheels go back on, the factory system can be returned to normal operation following the instructions.
Troubleshooting
Before installation, make sure the TPMS system works on the original wheels. If it already shows a fault with good sensors fitted, the problem is in the vehicle (receiver, module or wiring), and that needs repair first. Starting from a working system makes the emulator setup straightforward to check.
Manual pressure checks
Without TPMS warnings, a monthly routine does the job: tires cold, gauge on each valve, compare with the door-jamb placard, top up as needed, and look over the tread and sidewalls. Larger off-road or winter tires may call for different pressures than the factory placard; follow the tire maker's guidance in that case.
Scope
- Supplies the TPMS signals the listed vehicle expects so the warning stays off on wheels without sensors.
- Does not read, store or display real tire pressures.
- Does not repair a faulty receiver, body module or wiring.
- Does not replace pressure checks with a gauge or tire inspections.
Confirm these points
- Your model and year match a row above (2008–2012 Chevrolet Equinox).
- The TPMS system works normally on your original sensor-equipped wheels.
- No aftermarket TPMS receiver or display has been added.
- You have a tire gauge and will check pressures manually.

Warranty and returns
Free standard shipping covers the contiguous US, with dispatch in 1–2 business days and 3–4 days on the road after that. You have 45 days to request a return (pre-approval required, 20% restocking fee, buyer-paid return shipping). The module is backed by a 3-year limited warranty. For order or fitment questions, write to support@automotivebypass.com between 9 and 5 Pacific, Monday through Friday.
Questions & Answers
Does it measure tire pressure?
No. It supplies the signals the system expects. Check pressures with a gauge.
Can I go back to the original sensors?
Yes. Remove the emulator, refit the sensor-equipped wheels and follow the vehicle's normal TPMS procedure.
Which Chevrolet Equinox years does this TPMS emulator fit?
The fitment table lists Chevrolet Equinox 2008–2012. Match your exact model and year before ordering.
Will it fix a TPMS receiver or module fault?
No. Receiver, wiring and module faults need their own diagnosis and repair.
Is it legal to use on the road?
TPMS is required equipment on new US light vehicles, and rules for owners and inspections vary by state. Check what applies before road use.
Why does my TPMS light flash and then stay on?
Under FMVSS No. 138, a light that flashes for about a minute and then stays on indicates a system malfunction, such as missing sensor signals, rather than low pressure.
Can a tire shop work on the vehicle with the emulator installed?
Tell the shop it is installed. Federal law restricts repair businesses from knowingly making TPMS inoperative, so some shops may ask you to remove it first.
Do I still need to check tire pressure?
Yes. Check all tires cold at least once a month with a gauge, using the pressures on the driver-side door-jamb placard.
Will it work on a vehicle that is not listed?
Do not assume it will. TPMS receivers and sensor setups vary by model and year, so match the fitment rows or send the VIN to support.
Why is TPMS required on US vehicles?
The TREAD Act of 2000 directed NHTSA to require tire-pressure warnings, which led to FMVSS No. 138. All new US light vehicles built from September 1, 2007 must have it.
