Product function

Covered vehicles: 2008–2013 Chevrolet Suburban 2500 and 2016 Chevrolet Suburban 3500 HD. Every row in the fitment table is listed as a 100% fitment match. Follow the included instructions for your model.

Typical use: A second wheel set without sensors: winter, track, off-road or show wheels. A constant warning light can hide other warnings, which is why owners want it cleared.

Limits: It does not measure tire pressure, so slow leaks will not be reported. A monthly cold check against the door-jamb placard replaces the dash warning.

Regulations: Federal standard FMVSS No. 138 made TPMS mandatory on light vehicles from September 2007. Repair businesses are restricted by 49 U.S.C. 30122 from making TPMS inoperative.

Checking pressure: Use the cold inflation pressure on the driver-side door-jamb placard, not the maximum on the sidewall. Check before the tires warm up, because heat raises the reading.

Order check: Match the model and year to a fitment row. Make sure the factory TPMS works on your sensor-equipped wheels.

In short: The Chevrolet Suburban 2500 and Chevrolet Suburban 3500 HD listens for a radio signal from a sensor in every wheel. Wheels without sensors trigger a malfunction warning. This module stands in for those sensors and keeps the dash clear.

Ordering terms: Ships free within the lower 48 states: 1–2 business days to dispatch, 3–4 more on the road. A 45-day return window applies once a return is approved, less a 20% restocking fee and return shipping. 3-year limited warranty. Send the VIN to support@automotivebypass.com if any row is unclear. Support answers weekdays, 9–5 Pacific.

Description

For the 2008–2013 Chevrolet Suburban 2500 and 2016 Chevrolet Suburban 3500 HD: an emulator that supplies the TPMS signals the vehicle is looking for. Typical use is a second set of wheels that has no sensors, where the factory system would otherwise keep its warning lit. It does not measure air pressure. Once it is in use, checking pressures with a gauge is your job, not the dashboard's.

Fitment

Each row below is listed as a 100% fitment match:

  • Chevrolet Suburban 2500: 2008–2013
  • Chevrolet Suburban 3500 HD: 2016

Within these years the receiver and sensor configuration is what the emulator has to match, which is why the listing is split by model and year. The included instructions cover setup for each listed vehicle.

Why the warning comes on

TPMS became mandatory on new US light vehicles (10,000 lb GVWR or less) on September 1, 2007, under FMVSS No. 138. The required system warns when a tire falls 25% below the recommended cold pressure, and separately flags a malfunction with a flashing-then-steady light. On the Chevrolet Suburban 2500 and Chevrolet Suburban 3500 HD, a missing sensor signal is treated as a malfunction, which is the warning this emulator is meant to address.

Troubleshooting

Before installation, make sure the TPMS system works on the original wheels. If it already shows a fault with good sensors fitted, the problem is in the vehicle (receiver, module or wiring), and that needs repair first. Starting from a working system makes the emulator setup straightforward to check.

Checking pressure yourself

TPMS is required safety equipment on new light vehicles in the US under FMVSS No. 138, and 49 U.S.C. 30122 prohibits manufacturers, dealers and repair businesses from knowingly making such equipment inoperative. Requirements for owners and for state inspections vary. Whatever the use, a tire gauge and regular visual checks replace the warning the system would have given you.

Switching between wheel sets

When you go back to the original sensor-equipped wheels, remove or disconnect the emulator as the instructions describe and let the vehicle recognize its sensors again. If the original sensors were rotated or replaced, the vehicle may need its normal TPMS relearn. Store the sensor wheels indoors and keep the valve caps on to keep moisture out of the valve stems.

Typical uses

Most buyers have wheels without sensors that they use part of the year, such as a winter set, a track set or a show set. The emulator keeps the dash clear while those wheels are on. When the original sensor-equipped wheels go back on, the factory system can be returned to normal operation following the instructions.

Checking pressure the right way

Use the cold inflation pressure printed on the tire placard on the driver-side door jamb, not the maximum figure molded into the tire sidewall. "Cold" means the vehicle has been parked for about three hours or driven only a short distance. Check every tire including the spare, add air in small steps, and recheck. Doing this monthly covers most of what the TPMS warning would have told you.

What it does and does not do

  • Supplies the TPMS signals the listed vehicle expects so the warning stays off on wheels without sensors.
  • Does not read, store or display real tire pressures.
  • Does not repair a faulty receiver, body module or wiring.
  • Does not replace pressure checks with a gauge or tire inspections.

Fitment check

  • Your model and year match a row above (2008–2013 Chevrolet Suburban 2500 and 2016 Chevrolet Suburban 3500 HD).
  • The TPMS system works normally on your original sensor-equipped wheels.
  • No aftermarket TPMS receiver or display has been added.
  • You have a tire gauge and will check pressures manually.
  • Unsure? Email your VIN to support@automotivebypass.com.

Warranty and returns

Shipping is free to the contiguous US. Orders leave in 1–2 business days and usually arrive 3–4 business days later. Returns are accepted within 45 days with pre-approval; a 20% restocking fee applies and the buyer covers return shipping. The part carries a 3-year limited warranty, and support@automotivebypass.com answers Monday to Friday, 9–5 Pacific.

Questions & Answers
Which Chevrolet Suburban 2500 and Chevrolet Suburban 3500 HD years does this TPMS emulator fit?

The fitment table lists Chevrolet Suburban 2500 2008–2013; Chevrolet Suburban 3500 HD 2016. Match your exact model and year before ordering.

Does it measure tire pressure?

No. It supplies the signals the system expects. Check pressures with a gauge.

Can I go back to the original sensors?

Yes. Remove the emulator, refit the sensor-equipped wheels and follow the vehicle's normal TPMS procedure.

Will it fix a TPMS receiver or module fault?

No. Receiver, wiring and module faults need their own diagnosis and repair.

Will it work on a vehicle that is not listed?

Do not assume it will. TPMS receivers and sensor setups vary by model and year, so match the fitment rows or send the VIN to support.

Why is TPMS required on US vehicles?

The TREAD Act of 2000 directed NHTSA to require tire-pressure warnings, which led to FMVSS No. 138. All new US light vehicles built from September 1, 2007 must have it.

Why does my TPMS light flash and then stay on?

Under FMVSS No. 138, a light that flashes for about a minute and then stays on indicates a system malfunction, such as missing sensor signals, rather than low pressure.

Do I still need to check tire pressure?

Yes. Check all tires cold at least once a month with a gauge, using the pressures on the driver-side door-jamb placard.

Is it legal to use on the road?

TPMS is required equipment on new US light vehicles, and rules for owners and inspections vary by state. Check what applies before road use.

Can a tire shop work on the vehicle with the emulator installed?

Tell the shop it is installed. Federal law restricts repair businesses from knowingly making TPMS inoperative, so some shops may ask you to remove it first.
